Water Waste Fact Sheet

The waste and water industry in East Gippsland has adapted its services to suit the needs of a vast region spanning 21,000 sqkm in some of Australia’s most diverse and spectacular scenery.

Water services are provided to around 25,400 customers by local provider, East Gippsland Water. The organisation delivers the full range of water services including water harvesting, storage, wastewater collection, treatment and recycling services, as well as trade waste services toindustrial and commercial customers.

Employing around 85 people, the organisation is made up of four departments - Corporate Services, Operations, Business Services and Infrastructure.

East Gippsland Shire Council currently provides extensive waste collection and disposal services across the shire. Waste management operations include two licensed landfills, seven unlicensed landfills (four of which include transfer stations), 11 stand-alone waste transfer stations, 13 transfer trailers, 400+ street litter and public place recycling bins and 18,000+ residential kerbside services.

Tambo Waste is the largest of the waste collection providers in East Gippsland, managing domestic and commercial waste services around the Gippsland Lakes region. Tambo Waste also manufactures and refurbishes front load bins and bulk bins, keeping this construction work local.
