Bairnsdale South Industrial Estate

East Gippsland Shire Council is working with East Gippsland Water to undertake an upgrade to the water supply to the Estate. This upgrade will support the development of the Estate by reducing the cost of meeting the Building Code regulations regarding firefighting requirements for buildings over 500 sqm in floor space.

Paynesville Slip Road Maritime Precinct

A key segment of the Paynesville Maritime Precinct Masterplan, this project has attracted investment from the Australian Government and the Victorian State Government.

The upgrade of the five-hectare site bordering the narrow McMillan Strait will include new seawalls, boardwalk, boat ramp, jetties, parking, pathways and upgrades to utilities.

Gippsland Lakes Aquatic Trail

The Gippsland Lakes Aquatic Trail is a proposed cycling, walking and paddling trail taking in some of the most beautiful coastline, estuaries, beaches and views of this region, in partnership with the Gunaikurnai people on their country.

Omeo Mountain Bike Park Project

Supported by shire, state and federal governments, the creation of a nationally significant mountain bike complex in Omeo will drive economic activity for the region and reimage the township as a gateway for adventure tourism.

The Sea to Summit Experience

Sea to Summit will be an iconic walking trail and nature experience from Errinundra National Park to the ocean beaches of Cape Conran Coastal Park in East Gippsland.
Completion of the trail will be an important investment that supports regional tourism and economic recovery in East Gippsland.

Bullock Island Recreational Project

Managed by East Gippsland Shire Council, the Bullock Island Recreational Project will see the development of the recreational area on the island including construction of additional parking, upgrading telecommunication, power, road, sewerage and water services, and the construction of fishing areas/platforms.

Bairnsdale Airport

Federal funding has been approved for the extension, widening and strengthening of the main runway at Bairnsdale Airport. Replacement of water mains replacement were also recently funded by a grant from the Department of Infrastructure’s Regional Airports Program (Round 2), with Council contributing the remainder.

Sailors Grave Dune Town Development

The Orbost-based brewer is expanding with a purpose-built farm brewery near Cape Conran.
The proposed site is adjacent to the proposed Marlo-Conran shared pathway and upgraded services link, and would enable a circular economy farm brewery and visitor experience, including a micro malting facility, cellar door, and zero waste system.

Bullock Island Cafe

Works are currently underway for the Bullock Island on-water cafe. The cafe is being funded by the Labor State Government and being delivered by the Lakes Entrance Fishermen’s Limited (LEFL) which is also co-funding the project and currently operate a commercial fish processing and distribution facility on the same site.

Mallacoota Abalone Factory

The redevelopment of the Mallacoota Abalone Co-Op into a high standard processing facility and visitor attraction is taking shape, after the co-op was one of the hardest hit by the black summer bushfires, with the factory completely burnt out.
